Made-to-measure shade sail in Corsica

A shade sail, made to measure, casts shade over your terrace, your garden or your pool.

LumiDesign designs and installs made-to-measure shade sails. They protect your outdoor space from the sun and give it a modern look. On a terrace, in a garden or beside a pool, they blend into the setting.

We work throughout Corsica: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and beyond. Our sails are made from quality materials. They are robust, withstand the island's climate and protect you effectively, for a long time.

Curved edges The edges are cut in a curve, to spread the tension across the whole fabric.

High point, low point With anchors at different heights, the fabric forms a saddle and water runs towards the low point.

Tensioner At each corner, a tensioner pulls the fabric taut.

Mast Where the house ends, a mast takes over. Its height sets the slope of the fabric.

Tensioned fabric A fabric tensioned between several anchor points, which stops the sun and lets air through.

Façade anchor A plate fixed into the wall. The installation is safe and durable if the anchor points are securely fixed.

The shade sail, hands on

A shadow by design.

  1. In the morning, three points are enough. The triangular sail casts its shadow as far as the lounge. In the morning, the triangular sail is enough.
  2. At noon, the sun is at its highest and the four-point fabric covers the lounge. At noon, four points cover the lounge.
  3. In the afternoon, the shadow has turned towards the east and two sails cross. In the afternoon, two sails cross.

What is a shade sail and what are its advantages?

How long does a shade sail last?

Made from quality materials and regularly maintained, a shade sail can last for several years. Our fabrics resist bad weather, UV and water, which helps them last even in the Corsican climate.

How do I choose the right size for my shade sail?

Can I install a shade sail myself?

Installing a shade sail requires the anchor points to be securely fixed and the fabric to be properly tensioned. Some projects can be done yourself, but we recommend calling on our professionals for a safe and durable installation.

Does a shade sail protect against rain?

A shade sail is first and foremost for protection from the sun. With a waterproof fabric, it can offer partial protection from rain, but it does not replace a permanent shelter such as a pergola. We also offer sails with a drainage system, to channel water away better.

Do you work in Ajaccio, Porticcio and throughout Corsica for your shade sail?

Yes. Our showroom is in Porticcio, in the commune of Grosseto-Prugna, near Ajaccio, and we work throughout Corsica: Ajaccio, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Bastia, L’Île-Rousse and elsewhere on the island. The technical visit takes place at your home, then our team carries out the installation. To begin, describe your project in the quote request.

Which fabric should I choose for a shade sail?

We work with Serge Ferrarifabrics. The manufacturer intends the waterproof Soltis 502 Proof for shade sails and pergola roofs; it comes in 35 colours. A micro-perforated fabric lets air through, and therefore water too. The choice depends on what you expect from the sail: shade only, or shelter from the rain.
