The principle

The sun stopped before the glass.

Fitted as a canopy above a window, a fixed brise-soleil blocks the high summer sun and lets in the low winter sun. Adjustable slats add control of the light throughout the day, down to darkness with the slats closed.

An adjustable brise-soleil (BSO) is, in short, an exterior venetian blind: its aluminium slats tilt and can be raised. Our brise-soleil page also explains the path of the sun in Porticcio.

Roma

Roma:light, finely balanced.

Roma states that up to 75% of the sun’s heat is reflected before it reaches the glazing. The bottom of the blind can stay closed while the top tilts to light the room. The CDL slat won a Red Dot Design Award.

A wind sensor raises the brise-soleil above a set threshold, a sun sensor lowers them when the sun beats down. Wall switch, radio remote control, or phone via Somfy TaHoma; a solar version needs no mains connection. The UNO system houses a roller shutter, a brise-soleil or a fabric blind in the same box.

Bandalux and Tellier

Two other ways to direct the light.

The Bandalux BSO is an aluminium external venetian blind. Bandalux states wind resistance up to 76 km/h for the Z70 and Z90 models, which is class 5 of the EN 13659 standard.

Tellier, in Anjou, makes fixed or adjustable aluminium slats, fitted as a canopy or vertically in front of the façade, as well as raisable slatted blinds, the MOBIL’LIGNE range. Its finishes are certified Qualicoat, Seaside or Qualimarine as appropriate, labels designed for the seaside.

What is an adjustable brise-soleil (BSO)?

An exterior venetian blind: aluminium slats fitted outside, in front of the glass, that tilt to control the light and can be raised. Stopped before the glazing, the sun heats the room less.

Does an adjustable brise-soleil withstand the wind?

Can an adjustable brise-soleil be controlled from a phone?

Yes, depending on the model. Roma offers wall switches, radio remote control or phone control via Somfy TaHoma, and a sun sensor that lowers the brise-soleil when the sun beats down.

Is an adjustable brise-soleil suitable by the sea?

Tellier states Qualicoat, Seaside or Qualimarine certified finishes depending on the case; on the Corsican project it presents, the fixings received a Qualimarine coating. For a facade exposed to sea spray, we look with you at the location and the upkeep to plan for.

Do you install adjustable brise-soleil in Ajaccio, Porticcio and across Corsica?

Yes. Our showroom is in Porticcio, in the commune of Grosseto-Prugna, near Ajaccio, and we work across Corsica: Ajaccio, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Bastia, L’Île-Rousse and elsewhere on the island. The technical visit takes place at your home: we take measurements and look at the mounting surface, the exposure and the access. Then our team installs it.

How much does an adjustable brise-soleil cost?

Every installation is made to measure: its price depends on the model, the dimensions and the options. We set it out in a quote, after the technical visit.
