The brand
Roma was born in Bavaria and gives 1980 as its founding date. The brand makes roller shutters, adjustable brise-soleil and fabric blinds, as well as aluminium garage doors.
Manufacturing takes place at four sites in Germany and one in France. Roma says it employs 1,500 people.

A shutter to close, a brise-soleil to control the light, a fabric blind to keep the view. Here are Roma's three families, with the names from its catalogue.
For new builds and renovation alike, strap-operated, crank-operated or motorised. The aluminium slats are double-walled, filled with insulating foam. An insect screen can be housed in the box, and a solar version needs no electrical connection.
Aluminium slats that tilt and raise, fitted outside, in front of the glass. Roma states that up to 75% of the sun's heat is reflected before the glazing. The CDL slat has received a Red Dot Design Award.
Vertical blinds whose fabric is guided by a zip. The zipSCREEN.2 covers up to 18 m², that is 4 m wide by 3.50 m high, and can close a fully glazed corner. More than 200 fabrics to choose from.
What sets it apart
The UNO system houses a roller shutter, a brise-soleil or a fabric blind in the same 200 × 170 mm box. You can change later.
Roma states its fabric blinds withstand winds of up to 120 km/h, depending on the size of the blind and how it is mounted.
On brise-soleil, the bottom of the curtain can stay closed while the top tilts to light the room.
A wind sensor raises the brise-soleil above a set threshold. A sun sensor lowers them when the sun beats down.
A panel and a battery power the motor, with no mains connection.
Wall switch, radio remote control, or phone via Somfy TaHoma.
Powder-coated aluminium systems, in a fine-textured matt finish.
