Curved edges The edges are cut in a curve, to spread the tension across the whole fabric.

High point, low point With anchors at different heights, the fabric forms a saddle and water runs towards the low point.

Tensioner At each corner, a tensioner pulls the fabric taut.

Mast Where the house ends, a mast takes over. Its height sets the slope of the fabric.

Tensioned fabric A fabric tensioned between several anchor points, which stops the sun and lets air through.

Façade anchor A plate fixed into the wall. The installation is safe and durable if the anchor points are securely fixed.

  2. At noon, the sun is at its highest and the four-point fabric covers the lounge. At noon, four points cover the lounge.
  3. In the afternoon, the shadow has turned towards the east and two sails cross. In the afternoon, two sails cross.
  4. In the evening, the sun is low and slips under the fabric, which stands out against the sky. In the evening, the sun slips under the fabric.

Shade sail in Porto-Vecchio

What changes in Porto-Vecchio.

Stone-paved terrace in late-afternoon light: wood and rope sofas with rust cushions, blue ceramic coffee tables, two sun loungers under a cantilever parasol, a granite boulder, pines; in the distance, a gulf and an old town on its hill.

  1. Light

    Shade without a roof.

Not every terrace calls for a pergola. For a patio, a corner of the garden under the cork oaks or the edge of a pool you want to keep open, a tensioned sail gives shade with little material. A micro-perforated fabric lets air through, which matters when the heat hangs in the middle of the afternoon.

It is tensioned between several anchor points: masts, a wall, a corner of the house. As a triangle, three points are enough for a corner of the terrace; with four points, it covers a dining area or a lounge; two crossing sails cover a wider area over a pool.

  2. The fabric

    A fabric that stays taut.

We work with Serge Ferrari fabrics. The manufacturer intends Soltis 502 Proof, a waterproof fabric, for shade sails; it comes in 35 colours, and Serge Ferrari states that it withstands winds of up to 160 km/h on a 12 m² sail. According to the manufacturer, the fabric does not deform under load and does not need re-tensioning after installation.

Waterproof or micro-perforated: the choice depends on what you expect. For shade alone, a fabric that breathes; to shelter from a shower, a waterproof fabric, tensioned with enough slope for the water to run to the low point. Even so, a sail does not replace a permanent shelter.

    See Serge Ferrari fabrics
  3. Installation

    Well-placed anchor points.

A sail holds by its anchors: a mast must be firmly fixed, a wall must be able to take the pull of the fabric. Under the pines, we place the points taking into account the branches and the needles falling on the fabric, the view of the gulf and where the sun is at the hours you spend outside.

During the technical visit, we measure the area to cover and look at the possible supports. Then our team fixes the anchors and tensions the fabric. To be in the shade from the start of summer, contact us before the season.

Your questions, our answers.

Do you install shade sails in Porto-Vecchio?

Yes. We come to your home from our showroom in Porticcio to measure the terrace and choose the anchor points, then our team installs the sail. See also our other services in Porto-Vecchio.

Shade sail or pergola: which to choose?

A sail is lighter and leaves the space open; its main job is protection from the sun. A bioclimatic pergola is a permanent shelter that controls the shade and keeps out the rain with the louvres closed.

What shape of sail for my terrace?

A triangle for a corner, a four-point sail for a whole terrace, two crossed sails for a poolside or a garden. We work out the right dimensions with you, based on the area to cover.

Does a shade sail protect from rain?

Partly, with a waterproof fabric such as Soltis 502 Proof from Serge Ferrari, and enough slope. Some sails have a drainage system to shed water better. A sail does not replace a permanent shelter.

How much does a shade sail cost in Porto-Vecchio?

The price depends on the size, the fabric and the anchor points. We provide it on quotation, after the technical visit.

How can I contact you to discuss my sun protection or outdoor design project?

Our team answers your questions and presents our services. You can reach us in three ways:

What is a shade sail and what are its advantages?

A shade sail is a fabric tensioned between several anchor points to create shade. It protects effectively against UV rays and lets air through. Beautiful and practical, it makes outdoor spaces comfortable in summer.

How long does a shade sail last?

Made from quality materials and regularly maintained, a shade sail can last for several years. Our fabrics resist bad weather, UV and water, which helps them last even in the Corsican climate.

How do I choose the right size for my shade sail?

The size of the sail depends on the area you want to cover: a terrace, a garden, a pool. Our experts work out the right dimensions for your project with you. Each sail is then made to measure, to cover that area properly.
