A bespoke brise-soleil to control sunlight

Brise-soleil made to measure in Corsica, to protect your glazing and shape the façade.

Our bespoke brise-soleil give effective sun protection and suit your outdoor space. They are beautiful and built to last. The house gains in comfort and takes on a more modern look.

We work throughout Corsica: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and elsewhere. We know our trade, we work with quality materials and we adapt each brise-soleil to your needs. The installation is meticulous, and it shows in the result.

Casa Duminica wooden louvres

Canopy louvres Parallel to the façade and angled, they block the high summer sun. In wood or aluminium.

Edge beam It holds the ends of the brackets and aligns the louvres along the whole length.

Brackets Cantilevered from the façade, one bracket per bay carries the louvres.

Plates Each bracket is fixed to the wall by a bolted plate, below the roof.

Rail under the beam The panel is fixed under the pergola beam and at the base, on the terrace.

Upright louvres They close one side of the pergola and block the low evening sun. Air passes between them.

Wall-mounted pergola The canopy takes the height of its roof: the two structures form a single line.

The brise-soleil, in place

You block the sun and keep the view.

  1. On 21 June at noon, the sun is at its highest. The canopy puts almost the whole glazed opening in shade. On 21 June at noon, the glazing is in shade.
  2. At 5 pm, it is low, in the west. The upright louvres keep most of the lounge in shade. At 5 pm, the upright louvres shade the lounge.
  3. At the equinox, it drops: the canopy only shades the top of the glazed opening. At the equinox, only the top stays in shade.
  4. On 21 December, it passes under the canopy: the glazing receives the winter sun. On 21 December, the winter sun comes in.

Choosing well

As a canopy, or as louvres.

The sun is stopped above the glazed opening, or in front of it.

Talk it over with us

Your façade

Dimensions, materials and colours are decided for each brise-soleil, designed to measure.

The need

The sun, the heat, the light.

In Corsica, a façade receives intense sunshine and endures high temperatures.

Describe my façade
Intense sunshine
It blocks the sun’s rays and lets natural light in.
High temperatures
It limits heat. Your rooms stay cool and the light stays pleasant.
Air conditioning
You use less air conditioning, so less energy.
A façade to shape
Its louvres create shadows and plays of light, in keeping with the architecture of your villa.
Bad weather
It is made of aluminium, wood or steel, robust materials that are easy to maintain.

Our method

From consultation to installation.

We work with you at every stage of the project.

Visit the showroom
  1. Stage 1: An in-depth first conversation

We start by understanding your needs and wishes.

  2. Stage 2: A made-to-measure design

Together we settle the dimensions, materials, colours and motorisation.

  3. Stage 3: Planning formalities

Prior declaration of works or planning permission: we support you in either case.

  4. Stage 4: A careful installation

We take great care over installation, so that your brise-soleil meets your expectations of quality, design and use.

Sun protection and façade design

The brise-soleil shields the house from the sun and gives it its style.

Designed for the architecture of your villa

Every project is different. So we work with you to make sure the brise-soleil suits the architecture of your villa and your taste.

A made-to-measure brise-soleil protects from the sun and also shapes the look of your property. Its louvres create subtle plays of light and elegant shadows that change the atmosphere of your outdoor space.

From the first meeting to installation

It all starts with an in-depth conversation about your needs and wishes. We then work with you at every stage of the project, from design to installation. Once installed, your made-to-measure brise-soleil should meet your expectations of quality, design and use.

Brise-soleil in Porto-Vecchio

What changes in Porto-Vecchio.

Stone-paved terrace in late-afternoon light: wood and rope sofas with rust cushions, blue ceramic coffee tables, two sun loungers under a cantilever parasol, a granite boulder, pines; in the distance, a gulf and an old town on its hill.
Illustration a lounge above the gulf
  1. Large glazed openings

    The heat stays outside.

Villas in Porto-Vecchio often open through large picture windows onto the gulf, the pool or the maquis. In high summer, a window in the sun heats the room behind it. The brise-soleil stops the rays outside, before the glass: that is where it protects best.

A fixed canopy above the window stops the summer sun, which is high, and lets in the winter sun, lower on the horizon. For a second home that is also opened in spring and autumn, this arrangement needs no adjustment at all.

    See our brise-soleil
  2. Fixed or adjustable

    Slats you can adjust.

On a façade that gets low sun, in the morning or late in the day, a canopy is not enough: the rays pass underneath. Then you need slats in front of the window. The adjustable brise-soleil, an exterior aluminium venetian, tilts its slats to control the light and raises them when you want the view.

Roma states that up to 75% of the sun’s heat is reflected before it reaches the glazing; it offers a wind sensor that raises the slats above a set threshold, and a solar version with no mains connection. Bandalux states that its Z70 and Z90 BSO withstand winds of up to 76 km/h, class 5 under the EN 13659 standard.

    See the adjustable brise-soleil
  3. By the sea

    Salt and the façade.

Near the sea, fixings and finishes matter. Tellier states that its finishes are certified Qualicoat, Seaside or Qualimarine depending on the case; on the Corsican project it presents, the fixings were given a Qualimarine lacquer. It also makes timber slats on aluminium or stainless steel fixings, which suit a stone façade.

A brise-soleil is fixed to the façade: you need to know what the façade can carry. During the technical visit, we look at the substrate, the orientation of each window and access for installation. A prior declaration of works is usually enough; we help you with the paperwork.

Your questions, our answers.

Do you install brise-soleil in Porto-Vecchio?

Yes. We work all over Corsica from our showroom in Porticcio, near Ajaccio. The technical visit takes place at your home, then our team installs the brise-soleil. We install Tellierbrise-soleil, fixed or adjustable, and Roma and BandaluxBSO.

Fixed or adjustable brise-soleil for a villa in Porto-Vecchio?

For a window that takes the midday sun, a fixed canopy is often enough. For a façade hit by low sun, in the morning or evening, adjustable slats in front of the window control the light hour by hour. Our page on adjustable brise-soleil tells you more.

Does a brise-soleil replace air conditioning?

No, but it eases the load on it. By stopping the sun before the glass, it limits the heat coming in; the room stays cooler and you use the air conditioning less.

Can a brise-soleil be added to an existing house?

Yes, it can be fitted to an existing façade if the façade can carry it: we check this during the technical visit. Roma offers a solar version that needs no mains connection. You can also try the configurator.

How much does a brise-soleil cost in Porto-Vecchio?

The price depends on the type of brise-soleil, the dimensions, the material and the motorisation. We set it on quotation, after the technical visit.

How can I contact you to discuss my sun protection or outdoor design project?

Our team answers your questions and presents our services. You can reach us in three ways:

What is a brise-soleil and what are its benefits?

A brise-soleil controls sunlight and heat in the home. It blocks the sun’s rays, lets natural light in and enhances your outdoor space. As you use the air conditioning less, it also helps reduce energy consumption.

Which materials do you use to make bespoke brise-soleil?

We use high-quality materials such as aluminium, wood or steel. They are robust, weather-resistant and easy to maintain. Each brise-soleil is made to measure, to suit your space and your taste.

Can I personalise my brise-soleil?

Yes. Each brise-soleil is designed to measure, according to your needs and your project. You choose the dimensions, materials, colours and, if you wish, a motorisation system.
