The story of Casa Mare

The louvres filter the light, and their shadow on the ground shifts as the day goes by.

Casa Mare stands high above the sea.

LumiDesign installed a bespoke bioclimatic pergola here, with a white frame and adjustable wood-effect louvres, extending the villa out towards the open sea. The louvres filter the light, and their shadow on the ground shifts as the day goes by. Beneath it, the outdoor lounge is used in every season and keeps the view over the gulf.

What we installed

Lounge striped with shadow, coffee table, railing and the sea on the horizon.

Casa Mare, at two times of day

From day to dusk.

The same terrace is photographed head-on, from almost the same spot, in full sun and then at nightfall. The louvres stay open. Only the light changes, and with it the colour of the wood, the floor and the sea.

The Casa Mare pergola seen from directly above: louvres closed edge to edge, the roof is solid. The same view: the louvres have rotated, and the terrace and its furniture can be glimpsed between them. The same view: louvres upright, the terrace shows through the roof.

The roof opens, seen from the sky.

The same pergola is photographed three times from directly above. With the louvres closed edge to edge, the roof is solid. Halfway, the lounge can be glimpsed between them, and when they stand upright, the terrace shows through.

Pergola at three-quarter view, louvres open, lounge, white railing, maquis and sea.

    What the photographs show

Casa Mare has our most complete photo story. The bioclimatic pergola is photographed at every hour. The frame is white and the adjustable louvres have a wood effect. Open, they stripe the lounge with shadow and reveal the sky. Closed, they give solid shade, and the roof, seen from the sky, looks like a plan. The fascia carries recessed spotlights. At dusk, the louvres stand out against the pale sky and the sea. The photo story shows the pergola in all its uses: controlling shade, giving shelter, extending the villa out towards the open sea.

The name
