The story of Casa Petra

In full sun, the louvres’ shadow stripes the paving.

At Casa Petra, LumiDesign installed two Biossun bioclimatic pergolas, with a copper-brown frame and pale louvres.

The house is a contemporary two-storey villa with a timber batten façade, facing a gulf. The first pergola stands against the façade and shelters the outdoor lounge. The second covers the dining table, in front of a glass balustrade. Between the two lie a terrace of large pale slabs and an infinity pool. In full sun, the louvres’ shadow stripes the paving.

    What the photographs show

Casa Petra has two bioclimatic pergolas with a copper-brown frame and pale louvres. One stands against the façade, above the outdoor lounge. The other covers the large table, in front of the glass balustrade and the gulf. The photographs show them with louvres half open, when the shadow stripes the pale slabs, and with louvres closed, as a solid roof. The film shows the louvres closing against the sky. On a post, a brushed metal plate bears the manufacturer’s name, Biossun. The colour of the frame matches the timber battens of the façade.

The name
Petra : the stone, in Corsican. It is the name of the project, not of a place.
