LumiDesign project in Corsica: made-to-measure bioclimatic pergola, blinds and outdoor fit-out Casa Vennari

The pergola at Casa Vennari is white. It stands above a stone wall, on a terracotta terrace overlooking the pool. When the louvres are half open, the terrace is striped with shadow. Beneath the louvres, the view reaches the gulf and the mountains. The photo story has five photographs, taken on a phone. They are enough to show how a bioclimatic pergola works: the structure is light, the louvres tilt to balance shade and light, and you stay outdoors, facing the landscape.

The Casa Vennari specification lists made-to-measure indoor and outdoor blinds. The photographs in the photo story, framed on the pergola and the view, do not show them. A blind is made to the size of the opening, inside or out. It is lowered when the sun is troublesome, to balance light and heat or for privacy from overlooking neighbours, and raised when you want the full view. Two other projects show them in photographs: Casa Marti in its living room and Casa Ghjovi on the side of a pergola.

The outdoor furniture at Casa Vennari is not the focus of the photographs, which face the gulf. The specification lists it as high-end furniture, chosen for the terrace. An outdoor fit-out means furnishing what the pergola shelters, a dining area, a lounge or sun loungers, with materials made to stay outdoors. We plan it together with the shading, because the height of the roof, the angle of the louvres and the placing of the furniture are decided together. Casa Marti and Casa Sabbatu show examples.
