LumiDesign project in Corsica: bespoke bioclimatic pergola and blinds Casa Palma

The pergola at Casa Palma is anthracite grey, with pale louvres. It stands against the villa, under a timber canopy, and covers the stone summer kitchen and the long table in a single span. The photographs show it with louvres wide open to the sky, half open, then closed. Spotlights are built into the structure. On the ground, the shadow of the louvres draws stripes that turn with the hour. The remote control on the table bears the manufacturer’s name, Biossun: it is what operates the pergola.

The blinds at Casa Palma are dark grey screen blinds, fitted on two sides of the pergola. Lowered, they close off the terrace on the sunny side, and the fabric still lets the palm trees and the hills show through. From the garden, two bays appear closed, like a wall. The film shows a blind coming down along its post. On a pergola, a vertical blind is set as needed: you lower it against the low sun, the wind or prying eyes, and raise it to get the view back.
