A bespoke brise-soleil to control sunlight

Brise-soleil made to measure in Corsica, to protect your glazing and shape the façade.

Our bespoke brise-soleil give effective sun protection and suit your outdoor space. They are beautiful and built to last. The house gains in comfort and takes on a more modern look.

We work throughout Corsica: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and elsewhere. We know our trade, we work with quality materials and we adapt each brise-soleil to your needs. The installation is meticulous, and it shows in the result.

Canopy louvres Parallel to the façade and angled, they block the high summer sun. In wood or aluminium.

Edge beam It holds the ends of the brackets and aligns the louvres along the whole length.

Brackets Cantilevered from the façade, one bracket per bay carries the louvres.

Plates Each bracket is fixed to the wall by a bolted plate, below the roof.

Rail under the beam The panel is fixed under the pergola beam and at the base, on the terrace.

Upright louvres They close one side of the pergola and block the low evening sun. Air passes between them.

Wall-mounted pergola The canopy takes the height of its roof: the two structures form a single line.

The brise-soleil, in place

You block the sun and keep the view.

  1. On 21 June at noon, the sun is at its highest. The canopy puts almost the whole glazed opening in shade. On 21 June at noon, the glazing is in shade.
  2. At 5 pm, it is low, in the west. The upright louvres keep most of the lounge in shade. At 5 pm, the upright louvres shade the lounge.
  3. At the equinox, it drops: the canopy only shades the top of the glazed opening. At the equinox, only the top stays in shade.
  4. On 21 December, it passes under the canopy: the glazing receives the winter sun. On 21 December, the winter sun comes in.

Choosing well

As a canopy, or as louvres.

The sun is stopped above the glazed opening, or in front of it.

Talk it over with us

Your façade

Dimensions, materials and colours are decided for each brise-soleil, designed to measure.

The need

The sun, the heat, the light.

In Corsica, a façade receives intense sunshine and endures high temperatures.

Describe my façade
Intense sunshine
It blocks the sun’s rays and lets natural light in.
High temperatures
It limits heat. Your rooms stay cool and the light stays pleasant.
Air conditioning
You use less air conditioning, so less energy.
A façade to shape
Its louvres create shadows and plays of light, in keeping with the architecture of your villa.
Bad weather
It is made of aluminium, wood or steel, robust materials that are easy to maintain.

From consultation to installation.

We work with you at every stage of the project.

Visit the showroom
  1. Stage 1: An in-depth first conversation

We start by understanding your needs and wishes.

  2. Stage 2: A made-to-measure design

Together we settle the dimensions, materials, colours and motorisation.

  3. Stage 3: Planning formalities

Prior declaration of works or planning permission: we support you in either case.

  4. Stage 4: A careful installation

We take great care over installation, so that your brise-soleil meets your expectations of quality, design and use.

Sun protection and façade design

The brise-soleil shields the house from the sun and gives it its style.

Designed for the architecture of your villa

Every project is different. So we work with you to make sure the brise-soleil suits the architecture of your villa and your taste.

A made-to-measure brise-soleil protects from the sun and also shapes the look of your property. Its louvres create subtle plays of light and elegant shadows that change the atmosphere of your outdoor space.

Brise-soleil in Bonifacio

What changes in Bonifacio.

Paved terrace at sunset: sofa with rust-coloured cushions, blue coffee table, woven armchair, two sun loungers under a parasol, dry-stone walls and lavender; in the distance, the upper town of Bonifacio on its cliffs above the sea.

  1. Large windows

    Large windows, a harsh sun.

Villas around Bonifacio often open wide onto the sea, with large picture windows. On a plateau where nothing casts shade, the sun strikes this glass unobstructed, and the room behind heats up. A brise-soleil stops that sun outside, before the glass: that is where it does the most good.

As a canopy above a window, fixed slats block the summer sun, which rides high, and let in the winter sun, lower on the horizon. Adjustable slats also let you set the light hour by hour, right up to closing. Roma states that up to 75% of the sun’s heat is turned back before it reaches the glazing.

  2. Wind

    Slats rather than fabric.

Where the west wind blows often, protection without fabric has a simple advantage: nothing billows. A canopy with fixed slats stays in place in all weathers, provided it is firmly fixed to a wall that can carry it. For a timber brise-soleil, Tellier backs up its resistance with a structural calculation that accounts for wind, snow and seismic risk.

Adjustable slats, on the other hand, have a wind limit. Bandalux states a resistance of up to 76 km/h for its Z70 and Z90 BSO, which is class 5 under the EN 13659 standard. With Roma, a wind sensor raises the brise-soleil above a set threshold, and a sun sensor lowers them again when the sun beats down: handy in a let house that no one checks on every day.

  3. By the sea

    Aluminium against the sea spray.

Sea spray reaches exposed façades, and salt attacks anything metal. Tellier, in Anjou, states Qualicoat, Seaside or Qualimarine certified finishes depending on the case, labels designed for the seaside. On the Corsican project this manufacturer presents, the fixings were given a Qualimarine lacquer finish.

Tellier also makes slats fitted vertically in front of a façade, and liftable slatted blinds, the MOBIL’LIGNE range. On a house in the upper town, whose façade sometimes overlooks the lane and sometimes a sheer drop, we look with you at what the wall can carry and how to reach it for installation.

Your questions, our answers.

Do you install brise-soleil in Bonifacio?

Yes, fixed or adjustable. Our showroom is in Porticcio, near Ajaccio, and we work throughout Corsica. The technical visit takes place at your home in Bonifacio: measurements, mounting surface, exposure, access. Then our team installs the brise-soleil.

Will an adjustable brise-soleil stand up to the wind in Bonifacio?

It has a limit, set by the manufacturer: Bandalux states up to 76 km/h for its Z70 and Z90 BSO. With Roma, a wind sensor raises the slats above a set threshold. On a very exposed façade, a canopy with fixed slats is often the most worry-free answer.

Brise-soleil or awning for a large window facing the sea?

A brise-soleil has no fabric: it stays in place when an awning has to be retracted. An awning blocks light better and disappears once rolled up. On a large window exposed to the west wind, we compare the two with you, on site.

Can a brise-soleil be controlled remotely in a holiday let?

Yes, depending on the model. Roma offers wall control, radio remote control or phone control via Somfy TaHoma, and a solar version that needs no mains connection. See our page on the adjustable brise-soleil.

How much does a brise-soleil cost in Bonifacio?

Every brise-soleil is made-to-measure: its price depends on the model, the dimensions and the options. We set the price on quotation, after the technical visit. You can also start in the configurator.

How can I contact you to discuss my sun protection or outdoor design project?

Our team answers your questions and presents our services. You can reach us in three ways:

What is a brise-soleil and what are its benefits?

A brise-soleil controls sunlight and heat in the home. It blocks the sun’s rays, lets natural light in and enhances your outdoor space. As you use the air conditioning less, it also helps reduce energy consumption.

Which materials do you use to make bespoke brise-soleil?

We use high-quality materials such as aluminium, wood or steel. They are robust, weather-resistant and easy to maintain. Each brise-soleil is made to measure, to suit your space and your taste.

Can I personalise my brise-soleil?

Yes. Each brise-soleil is designed to measure, according to your needs and your project. You choose the dimensions, materials, colours and, if you wish, a motorisation system.
