A bespoke brise-soleil to control sunlight

Brise-soleil made to measure in Corsica, to protect your glazing and shape the façade.

Our bespoke brise-soleil give effective sun protection and suit your outdoor space. They are beautiful and built to last. The house gains in comfort and takes on a more modern look.

We work throughout Corsica: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and elsewhere. We know our trade, we work with quality materials and we adapt each brise-soleil to your needs. The installation is meticulous, and it shows in the result.

Canopy louvres Parallel to the façade and angled, they block the high summer sun. In wood or aluminium.

Edge beam It holds the ends of the brackets and aligns the louvres along the whole length.

Brackets Cantilevered from the façade, one bracket per bay carries the louvres.

Plates Each bracket is fixed to the wall by a bolted plate, below the roof.

Rail under the beam The panel is fixed under the pergola beam and at the base, on the terrace.

Upright louvres They close one side of the pergola and block the low evening sun. Air passes between them.

Wall-mounted pergola The canopy takes the height of its roof: the two structures form a single line.

The brise-soleil, in place

You block the sun and keep the view.

  1. On 21 June at noon, the sun is at its highest. The canopy puts almost the whole glazed opening in shade. On 21 June at noon, the glazing is in shade.
  2. At 5 pm, it is low, in the west. The upright louvres keep most of the lounge in shade. At 5 pm, the upright louvres shade the lounge.
  3. At the equinox, it drops: the canopy only shades the top of the glazed opening. At the equinox, only the top stays in shade.
  4. On 21 December, it passes under the canopy: the glazing receives the winter sun. On 21 December, the winter sun comes in.

Choosing well

As a canopy, or as louvres.

The sun is stopped above the glazed opening, or in front of it.

Talk it over with us

Your façade

Dimensions, materials and colours are decided for each brise-soleil, designed to measure.

The need

The sun, the heat, the light.

In Corsica, a façade receives intense sunshine and endures high temperatures.

Describe my façade
Intense sunshine
It blocks the sun’s rays and lets natural light in.
High temperatures
It limits heat. Your rooms stay cool and the light stays pleasant.
Air conditioning
You use less air conditioning, so less energy.
A façade to shape
Its louvres create shadows and plays of light, in keeping with the architecture of your villa.
Bad weather
It is made of aluminium, wood or steel, robust materials that are easy to maintain.

Brise-soleil in Cap Corse

What changes in Cap Corse.

Stone-paved terrace at sunset: wooden sofa with terracotta cushions, round blue coffee table, armchair, sun loungers under a parasol with a wooden pole; beyond a low wall, a waterside village, a tower on the headland and the sea.

  1. The large window

A large opening in an old wall.

The old houses of the Cap have small openings, made to keep the cool in. When they are renovated, a large window is often opened towards the sea, and the sun that barely came in now pours in. A brise-soleil corrects this without closing off the view.

Fitted as a canopy above the window, a fixed brise-soleil blocks the high summer sun and lets the low winter sun through. With adjustable slats, you can also control the light during the day, down to darkness with the slats closed. The choice depends on the orientation: on the west coast, it is often the afternoon sun that needs blocking.

  2. The materials

Wood or aluminium, facing the sea.

We install brise-soleil in aluminium, wood or steel. Tellier Brise-Soleil, in Anjou, makes aluminium slats, fixed or adjustable, with an aerofoil profile (AZUR) or a rectangular one (RECTI’LIGNE), and wooden slats on aluminium or stainless steel fixings (WOOD’LIGNE). Next to a stone façade, wood often blends in better.

Near the sea, the finish matters as much as the slat. Tellier states Qualicoat, Seaside or Qualimarine certified finishes depending on the case; on the Corsican project it presents, the fixings received a Qualimarine coating. For a façade that takes the sea spray, we look with you at the upkeep to plan for.

  3. Adjustable slats

Slats that rise when the wind picks up.

An adjustable brise-soleil, or BSO, is an external venetian blind: its slats tilt and lift. In the Cap, where the wind turns quickly, automation is worth having: at Roma, a wind sensor raises the brise-soleil above a set threshold, and a solar version needs no mains connection.

Bandalux states that its Z70 and Z90 BSOs withstand winds of up to 76 km/h, class 5 under the EN 13659 standard. For a wooden brise-soleil, Tellier supports its wind resistance with a structural calculation that takes the wind into account. Tellier delivers its made-to-measure brise-soleil ready to install: an advantage when the house is at the end of a narrow road.

Your questions, our answers.

Do you install brise-soleil in Cap Corse?

Yes. Our showroom is in Porticcio, near Ajaccio, and we work throughout Corsica, Cap Corse included. The technical visit takes place at your home: measurements, support, exposure, access. Then our team installs the brise-soleil.

Fixed or adjustable brise-soleil for a house in the Cap?

The fixed type, as a canopy, blocks the high summer sun and lets in the winter sun. Theadjustable type also controls the light during the day. The choice depends on which way the window faces, and the wind it gets.

Does a brise-soleil stand up to sea spray?

Tellier states Qualicoat, Seaside or Qualimarine certified finishes depending on the case, labels designed for the seaside. We look with you at where the façade stands and the upkeep to plan for.

Can a brise-soleil be fitted to an old stone wall?

Yes, when the wall can carry the fixings. We check this at the technical visit, along with the window and the projection needed to shade the glass in summer.

How much does a brise-soleil cost in Cap Corse?

It is made to measure: its price depends on the model, the dimensions and the options. We set it on quotation, after the technical visit. You can first design it in our configurator.

How can I contact you to discuss my sun protection or outdoor design project?

Our team answers your questions and presents our services. You can reach us in three ways:

What is a brise-soleil and what are its benefits?

A brise-soleil controls sunlight and heat in the home. It blocks the sun’s rays, lets natural light in and enhances your outdoor space. As you use the air conditioning less, it also helps reduce energy consumption.

Which materials do you use to make bespoke brise-soleil?

We use high-quality materials such as aluminium, wood or steel. They are robust, weather-resistant and easy to maintain. Each brise-soleil is made to measure, to suit your space and your taste.

Can I personalise my brise-soleil?

Yes. Each brise-soleil is designed to measure, according to your needs and your project. You choose the dimensions, materials, colours and, if you wish, a motorisation system.
