A bespoke brise-soleil to control sunlight

Brise-soleil made to measure in Corsica, to protect your glazing and shape the façade.

Our bespoke brise-soleil give effective sun protection and suit your outdoor space. They are beautiful and built to last. The house gains in comfort and takes on a more modern look.

We work throughout Corsica: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and elsewhere. We know our trade, we work with quality materials and we adapt each brise-soleil to your needs. The installation is meticulous, and it shows in the result.

Casa Duminica wooden louvres

Canopy louvres Parallel to the façade and angled, they block the high summer sun. In wood or aluminium.

Edge beam It holds the ends of the brackets and aligns the louvres along the whole length.

Brackets Cantilevered from the façade, one bracket per bay carries the louvres.

Plates Each bracket is fixed to the wall by a bolted plate, below the roof.

Rail under the beam The panel is fixed under the pergola beam and at the base, on the terrace.

Upright louvres They close one side of the pergola and block the low evening sun. Air passes between them.

Wall-mounted pergola The canopy takes the height of its roof: the two structures form a single line.

The brise-soleil, in place

You block the sun and keep the view.

  1. On 21 June at noon, the sun is at its highest. The canopy puts almost the whole glazed opening in shade. On 21 June at noon, the glazing is in shade.
  2. At 5 pm, it is low, in the west. The upright louvres keep most of the lounge in shade. At 5 pm, the upright louvres shade the lounge.
  3. At the equinox, it drops: the canopy only shades the top of the glazed opening. At the equinox, only the top stays in shade.
  4. On 21 December, it passes under the canopy: the glazing receives the winter sun. On 21 December, the winter sun comes in.

Choosing well

As a canopy, or as louvres.

The sun is stopped above the glazed opening, or in front of it.

Talk it over with us

Your façade

Dimensions, materials and colours are decided for each brise-soleil, designed to measure.

The need

The sun, the heat, the light.

In Corsica, a façade receives intense sunshine and endures high temperatures.

Describe my façade
Intense sunshine
It blocks the sun’s rays and lets natural light in.
High temperatures
It limits heat. Your rooms stay cool and the light stays pleasant.
Air conditioning
You use less air conditioning, so less energy.
A façade to shape
Its louvres create shadows and plays of light, in keeping with the architecture of your villa.
Bad weather
It is made of aluminium, wood or steel, robust materials that are easy to maintain.

From consultation to installation.

We work with you at every stage of the project.

Visit the showroom
  1. Stage 1: An in-depth first conversation

We start by understanding your needs and wishes.

  2. Stage 2: A made-to-measure design

Together we settle the dimensions, materials, colours and motorisation.

Prior declaration of works or planning permission: we support you in either case.

  4. Stage 4: A careful installation

We take great care over installation, so that your brise-soleil meets your expectations of quality, design and use.

Sun protection and façade design

The brise-soleil shields the house from the sun and gives it its style.

Designed for the architecture of your villa

Every project is different. So we work with you to make sure the brise-soleil suits the architecture of your villa and your taste.

Brise-soleil in Calvi

What changes in Calvi.

Paved terrace in late-afternoon light: a wood and rope sofa and armchair with terracotta cushions, a round blue coffee table on a jute rug, two sun loungers and a cantilever parasol; an olive tree and a stone façade on the left; in the background, the bay and the citadel of Calvi.
Illustration lounge and sun loungers facing the bay
  1. The large windows

The sea view, without the heat.

Houses in the hills of the Balagne often have large picture windows opening towards the sea. In summer, that glass lets in the light and the heat along with it, and an indoor curtain acts too late: the sun has already passed through the glass. The brise-soleil stops it outside.

A fixed canopy above the window stops the summer sun, when it is high, and lets through the winter sun, lower on the horizon: useful for a house lived in all year round. Adjustable slats go further: you set the light hour by hour, and with the slats closed, the room falls into half-light.

  2. Salt air

    Finishes for the seaside.

A façade facing the bay takes salt air all year round, even when the house is closed. Tellier, a manufacturer based in Anjou, highlights the Qualicoat, Seaside or Qualimarine labels for its finishes, depending on the product, designed for the coast. Its aluminium slats are fitted fixed or adjustable, as a canopy or vertically.

On a stone or rendered façade, the colour of the slats matters as much as how they are set. On site, we look with you at the façade, the possible fixings and the maintenance the location will require.

  3. The libeccio

Slats that tuck away to safety.

An adjustable brise-soleil can be raised, and that is precious on libeccio days. Roma offers a wind sensor that lifts the slats above a set threshold, and a sun sensor that lowers them when the sun beats down. According to Roma, its brise-soleil reflect up to 75% of solar heat before it reaches the glass.

Bandalux, for its part, states that its Z70 and Z90 BSO withstand winds of up to 76 km/h, class 5 under the EN 13659 standard. And for a window far from any power point, Roma offers a solar version, with no mains connection.

Your questions, our answers.

Do you install brise-soleil in Calvi and the Balagne?

Yes, in Calvi as in the surrounding villages, Lumio, Calenzana or Montemaggiore. We set out from Porticcio for the technical visit, at the house, and our team comes back for the installation. All our services in the Balagne are gathered on the Calvi page.

Fixed or adjustable brise-soleil for a villa in Calvi?

The fixed type, as a canopy, asks nothing of you: it gives shade in summer and lets the winter sun in. The adjustable type controls the light all day and lifts when the wind gets up. The choice depends on the façade and how the room is used: see our page on the adjustable brise-soleil.

Can a brise-soleil withstand the salt air of the bay?

That is the question to put to the manufacturer. Tellier cites finish certifications intended for the coast, Qualimarine or Seaside depending on the case. At the visit, we look at how much sea spray the façade takes and what will need maintaining.

What does an adjustable brise-soleil do when the wind gets up?

It is raised. With Roma, this can happen on its own, thanks to a sensor set to a wind threshold: useful in a house where nobody is watching the sky.

How much does a brise-soleil cost in Calvi?

The price follows the number of windows, their dimensions, the type of slats and the options. It is given to you as a quote, after the technical visit. The configurator lets you put it together in 3D.

How can I contact you to discuss my sun protection or outdoor design project?

Our team answers your questions and presents our services. You can reach us in three ways:

What is a brise-soleil and what are its benefits?

A brise-soleil controls sunlight and heat in the home. It blocks the sun’s rays, lets natural light in and enhances your outdoor space. As you use the air conditioning less, it also helps reduce energy consumption.

Which materials do you use to make bespoke brise-soleil?

We use high-quality materials such as aluminium, wood or steel. They are robust, weather-resistant and easy to maintain. Each brise-soleil is made to measure, to suit your space and your taste.

Can I personalise my brise-soleil?

Yes. Each brise-soleil is designed to measure, according to your needs and your project. You choose the dimensions, materials, colours and, if you wish, a motorisation system.
