Brise-soleil in Corte, Haute-Corse: supply and installationThe right shade.

Wood-coloured slatted brise-soleil as a canopy above a large window, on a rendered façade: woven armchairs and a coffee table on stone paving, a potted olive tree; on the right, a citadel on its rock, a town below and mountains.

In Corte, you want shade in July and sun in January. A well-designed brise-soleil does both: it stops the high summer sun in front of the glass and lets the low winter sun through.

A bespoke brise-soleil to control sunlight

Brise-soleil made to measure in Corsica, to protect your glazing and shape the façade.

Our bespoke brise-soleil give effective sun protection and suit your outdoor space. They are beautiful and built to last. The house gains in comfort and takes on a more modern look.

We work throughout Corsica: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and elsewhere. We know our trade, we work with quality materials and we adapt each brise-soleil to your needs. The installation is meticulous, and it shows in the result.

Casa Duminica wooden louvres

Canopy louvres Parallel to the façade and angled, they block the high summer sun. In wood or aluminium.

Edge beam It holds the ends of the brackets and aligns the louvres along the whole length.

Brackets Cantilevered from the façade, one bracket per bay carries the louvres.

Plates Each bracket is fixed to the wall by a bolted plate, below the roof.

Rail under the beam The panel is fixed under the pergola beam and at the base, on the terrace.

Upright louvres They close one side of the pergola and block the low evening sun. Air passes between them.

Wall-mounted pergola The canopy takes the height of its roof: the two structures form a single line.

The brise-soleil, in place

You block the sun and keep the view.

  1. On 21 June at noon, the sun is at its highest. The canopy puts almost the whole glazed opening in shade. On 21 June at noon, the glazing is in shade.
  2. At 5 pm, it is low, in the west. The upright louvres keep most of the lounge in shade. At 5 pm, the upright louvres shade the lounge.
  3. At the equinox, it drops: the canopy only shades the top of the glazed opening. At the equinox, only the top stays in shade.
  4. On 21 December, it passes under the canopy: the glazing receives the winter sun. On 21 December, the winter sun comes in.

Choosing well

As a canopy, or as louvres.

The sun is stopped above the glazed opening, or in front of it.

Talk it over with us

Your façade

Dimensions, materials and colours are decided for each brise-soleil, designed to measure.

The need

The sun, the heat, the light.

In Corsica, a façade receives intense sunshine and endures high temperatures.

Describe my façade
Intense sunshine
It blocks the sun’s rays and lets natural light in.
High temperatures
It limits heat. Your rooms stay cool and the light stays pleasant.
Air conditioning
You use less air conditioning, so less energy.
A façade to shape
Its louvres create shadows and plays of light, in keeping with the architecture of your villa.
Bad weather
It is made of aluminium, wood or steel, robust materials that are easy to maintain.

We work with you at every stage of the project.

Visit the showroom
  1. Stage 1: An in-depth first conversation

We start by understanding your needs and wishes.

  2. Stage 2: A made-to-measure design

Prior declaration of works or planning permission: we support you in either case.

  4. Stage 4: A careful installation

We take great care over installation, so that your brise-soleil meets your expectations of quality, design and use.

Sun protection and façade design

The brise-soleil shields the house from the sun and gives it its style.

Designed for the architecture of your villa

Every project is different. So we work with you to make sure the brise-soleil suits the architecture of your villa and your taste.

Brise-soleil in Corte

What changes in Corte.

  1. The seasons

Shade in summer, sun in winter.

Corte’s climate has two clear-cut seasons: a hot, dry summer and a cold winter. Protection that stays closed all year round does not suit it. Fitted as a canopy above a window, a fixed brise-soleil cuts out the high summer sun; in winter the sun is low, passes underneath and comes into the room.

It all comes down to the design: the orientation of the window, the height of the sun according to the season, the projection needed. At the bottom of a valley surrounded by mountains, the terrain matters too, since it hides the sun earlier or later depending on the house. We look at it at your home, during the technical visit.

  2. Wood or aluminium

    Wood or aluminium.

Tellier Brise-Soleil makes brise-soleil with wooden slats, the WOOD’LIGNE range, and with aluminium slats, fixed or adjustable. Wood suits a stone house; aluminium comes in anodised, powder-coated or wood-effect finishes.

For its wooden brise-soleil, Tellier backs their strength with a structural calculation that takes account of wind, snow and seismic risk. In Corte, where winter can bring snow, it is a question to ask from the outset: we go over it with you according to the location of the house.

  3. Adjustable

    Louvres that follow the day.

An adjustable brise-soleil, or BSO, is an exterior venetian blind: its aluminium slats tilt and lift. Roma states that up to 75% of the sun’s heat is reflected before it reaches the glazing, and the bottom of the blind can stay closed while the top is tilted to light the room.

Mountain storms arrive quickly. With Roma, a wind sensor raises the brise-soleil above a set threshold, and a sun sensor lowers them when the sun beats down. Bandalux states that its Z70 and Z90 BSO withstand winds up to 76 km/h, which is class 5 under the EN 13659 standard.

Your questions, our answers.

Do you install brise-soleil in Corte?

Yes, fixed or adjustable, in Corte as in the villages in the centre of the island. Our showroom is in Porticcio, near Ajaccio, and we work throughout Corsica. We carry out the technical visit at your home, then our team installs the brise-soleil.

Does a brise-soleil deprive the house of winter sun?

Not if it is well designed. As a canopy above a window, it stops the high summer sun and lets the low winter sun through. With adjustable slats, you can also control the light through the day. See our page on brise-soleil.

Does a wooden brise-soleil stand up to winter in Corte?

For its wooden brise-soleil, Tellier backs their strength with a structural calculation that takes account of wind, snow and seismic risk. We go over the question with you, according to the façade and the location of the house, during the technical visit.

Fixed or adjustable brise-soleil for a house in Corte?

The fixed type, as a canopy, follows the seasons without being touched. Theadjustable type also follows the day, down to darkness with the slats closed, and can be raised; with Roma, a wind sensor raises it above a set threshold. The choice depends on the window and how the room is used.

How much does a brise-soleil cost in Corte?

Each brise-soleil is made to measure: its price depends on the model, the dimensions and the options. We price it on quotation, after the technical visit. The configurator helps you picture it.

How can I contact you to discuss my sun protection or outdoor design project?

Our team answers your questions and presents our services. You can reach us in three ways:

What is a brise-soleil and what are its benefits?

A brise-soleil controls sunlight and heat in the home. It blocks the sun’s rays, lets natural light in and enhances your outdoor space. As you use the air conditioning less, it also helps reduce energy consumption.

Which materials do you use to make bespoke brise-soleil?

We use high-quality materials such as aluminium, wood or steel. They are robust, weather-resistant and easy to maintain. Each brise-soleil is made to measure, to suit your space and your taste.

Can I personalise my brise-soleil?

Yes. Each brise-soleil is designed to measure, according to your needs and your project. You choose the dimensions, materials, colours and, if you wish, a motorisation system.
