Cassette Fitted at the head of the opening, it houses the fabric rolled on its tube.

Fabric A blackout fabric makes the room dark, a light-filtering fabric softens the light, and some let you see through.

Side channels On each side, they guide the fabric; the bottom bar keeps it taut.

Exterior blind Fitted in front of the glazing, it stops the sun before it comes in.

Operation Motorised control is an option, indoors and outdoors alike.

The blind, in context

You control the light.

  1. In the morning, the sun is still in the east. The blinds stay up and the view is clear. In the morning, the blinds stay up.
  2. At noon, it is at its highest, due south. The south blinds come down: the sun stays outside. At noon, the south blinds come down.
  3. In the late afternoon, it comes in from the west. As the fabric comes down, the patch of sun shrinks. At 5 pm, the sun comes in from the west.
  4. In the evening, it skims the horizon. With the fabric down, it no longer dazzles. In the evening, fabric down, no more glare.

What changes in Calvi.

  1. Balconies and terraces

    From balcony to terrace.

    In Calvi, situations vary: a narrow balcony on an old façade, a villa terrace above the bay, a patio sheltered by a stone wall. The awning is fixed to the façade or the ceiling, with no post on the ground, which matters when space is tight.

    Pratic houses its folding-arm awnings in an aluminium cassette, with integrated LED lighting. On the T-Hide, a motorised strip of fabric, the valance, rolls down beneath the front of the awning, handy when the sun slips under the fabric late in the day. When retracted, the awning goes back into its cassette.

  2. The fabric

    A fabric that breathes.

    Under a solid fabric, the dry Balagne summer quickly builds up heat. Serge Ferrari designs its Soltis 96 for awnings: its micro-perforations let air circulate, keep the view of the bay and stop heat building up under the awning.

    For the fabric, it is Serge Ferrari that gives the guarantee, 5 years on Soltis, on its own terms and on the fabric only. Bear in mind that an awning is still a shade awning: what lets the air through also lets a downpour through.

  3. The libeccio

    When the wind gets up.

    An awning dislikes gusts, and the libeccio brings them to the west coast. Pratic has patented a system for its folding-arm awnings that it calls FlexControl. The safest move is still to retract the fabric when the wind picks up, and to leave it retracted when you leave the house.

    To close off the exposed side of a terrace, a zip screen is better suited: at Bandalux, a zip holds the fabric in its side channels, and it no longer flaps in the wind. Bandalux states its Z-Box is wind class 6 under the EN 13561 standard, and offers wind, sun and temperature sensors.

Do you install awnings in Calvi?

Yes, in Calvi and throughout the Balagne, as everywhere in Corsica. The technical visit takes place at your home: measurements, support, exposure, access. Our team then installs the awning. See also our other services on the Calvi page.

Which awning should I choose for a balcony in Calvi?

On a balcony, an awning fixed to the wall or the ceiling takes up no floor space. To close off one side or shade a window, a vertical blind or a zip screen does better. Our page on made-to-measure awnings presents them all.

Can an awning withstand the libeccio?

An awning is made for shade, not for gusts of wind: you retract it when the wind picks up. Pratic highlights its patented FlexControl system on its folding-arm awnings. At the visit, we look with you at the wind the façade receives.

Can an awning be controlled from your phone?

Yes, depending on the model. With Bandalux, the LYNX app controls the blinds by phone or by voice, and you can set schedules. At the visit, we check with you what the house allows us to connect.

How much does an awning cost in Calvi?

It depends on the model, the width, the projection, the fabric and the options. We price the awning on quotation, after measuring at your home. The configurator lets you design your awning in 3D.
