Cassette Fitted at the head of the opening, it houses the fabric rolled on its tube.

Fabric A blackout fabric makes the room dark, a light-filtering fabric softens the light, and some let you see through.

Side channels On each side, they guide the fabric; the bottom bar keeps it taut.

Exterior blind Fitted in front of the glazing, it stops the sun before it comes in.

Operation Motorised control is an option, indoors and outdoors alike.

The blind, in context

You control the light.

  1. In the morning, the sun is still in the east. The blinds stay up and the view is clear. In the morning, the blinds stay up.
  2. At noon, it is at its highest, due south. The south blinds come down: the sun stays outside. At noon, the south blinds come down.
  3. In the late afternoon, it comes in from the west. As the fabric comes down, the patch of sun shrinks. At 5 pm, the sun comes in from the west.
  4. In the evening, it skims the horizon. With the fabric down, it no longer dazzles. In the evening, fabric down, no more glare.

What changes in Cap Corse.

  1. Balconies and façades

    A narrow balcony, shade that folds away.

    In the villages of the Cap, many houses rise high on a small footprint, with a balcony or a narrow terrace rather than a large garden. An awning suits them well: it fixes to the wall or under an overhang, takes up no floor space, and retracts into its cassette when no longer needed.

    The Pratic T-Hide, T-Code, T-Way and Flex Box awnings have an aluminium cassette that protects the folded fabric, and LED lighting. For the fabric, Serge Ferrari designs its Soltis 96 for awnings: micro-perforated, it lets air through and keeps the sea view.

  2. Wind

    A fabric that doesn’t flap.

    In the Cap, a blind is chosen as much for the wind as for the sun. An awning retracts as soon as the wind gets up. To close off an exposed side of a terrace, a vertical blind held in its side channels is better: at Bandalux, the Z-Box fabric is held by a zip, and the manufacturer states a class 6 wind rating under the EN 13561 standard.

    Roma states that its fabric blinds withstand winds of up to 120 km/h, depending on the size of the blind and how it is mounted. On its vertical blinds, Pratic highlights the Magnetic Lock System, which reattaches the fabric after a gust. We look on site at what your façade has to face.

  3. Old walls

    Motorising without drilling everywhere.

    In an old stone house, running a cable to the blind can mean going through a thick wall. Some blinds do without: Bandalux offers the Z-Box Solar, which runs on a solar panel and a battery, with no mains connection.

    In front of a south- or west-facing window, a zip screen with Soltis fabric keeps the view while blocking much of the heat: Serge Ferrari states up to 87% with Soltis 86. We help you choose between these blinds at the technical visit, based on the façade and how you use it.

Do you install awnings in Cap Corse?

Yes. Our showroom is in Porticcio, near Ajaccio, and we work throughout Corsica, Cap Corse included. The technical visit takes place at your home, then our team installs the awning. See our made-to-measure awnings.

Which awning should you choose for a terrace exposed to the Cap wind?

To close off a side, a vertical blind held in its side channels, such as the Z-Box from Bandalux, rated class 6 for wind under the EN 13561 standard according to the manufacturer. For shade, an awning, which is retracted as soon as the wind gets up.

Can an awning be fixed to a stone façade?

Most of the time, yes. The awning is fixed to the wall or the ceiling; at the technical visit we look at the condition of the stone and what can carry the fixings.

Can a blind be motorised without running a cable?

Yes, with some models. The Bandalux Z-Box Solar runs on a solar panel and a battery, with no mains connection. You can also design your blind in our configurator.

How much does an awning cost in Cap Corse?

Each awning is made to measure: its price depends on the model, the dimensions and the options. We set it out in a quote, after the technical visit.
