We design and install made-to-measure bioclimatic pergolas, suited to conditions in Corsica. Their adjustable louvres control sunlight and ventilation, summer and winter alike. We work across the island: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and elsewhere.
The structure is aluminium, robust and precisely made. It comes from Biossun, a manufacturer founded in 2009, and Victor Paquelet, who runs LumiDesign, has been installing pergolas since 2015. We design each pergola for the place where it will stand, on a terrace, by a pool or in a garden, so that it fits in and lasts.

Biossun states that all its models are certified by the CSTB, the French Scientific and Technical Centre for Building, with which it has worked since 2013. According to the manufacturer, this certification guarantees that the pergola withstands everyday weather conditions.

Living outdoors, under a roof that opens.
In a villa on the heights of L’Île-Rousse or in a nearby village, the terrace becomes the main room in summer: breakfast facing the open sea, late dinner, a nap in the shade. A fixed cover shuts out the sky; the bioclimatic pergola lets you choose, from one hour to the next.
Its louvres pivot on their own axis. Tilted, they give shade with air passing through, letting the heat escape; closed, they cover completely and keep out a shower; fully open, they give you back the evening sky.
Two manufacturers, three ways to move the louvres.
Biossun, founded in 2009, makes its pergolas in Isère and states that all its models are certified by the CSTB. Pratic, an Italian manufacturer based in Friuli, offers three movements depending on the model: louvres that rotate up to 140°, louvres that slide to open up the sky, louvres that lift and stack.
When it rains, Pratic channels water from the closed louvres into an integrated drainage system, then into gutters housed in the posts. To close the most exposed side, the manufacturer offers Raso vertical blinds or Glass Series glazing, sliding, fixed or hinged.
Near the port or on a ridge above the town, the wind can rise quickly. A pergola is therefore anchored to a slab, a wall or a facade able to carry it: at the technical visit, we check this support, how the terrace takes the gusts and the route the components will take on installation day.
Salt air wears down whatever stays outdoors. Pratic states that its aluminium has a Qualicoat Seaside pretreatment and Qualicoat Class 2 powder coatings, designed against salt, humidity and UV. For a second home, we go over with you the upkeep to plan between stays.
Who installs bioclimatic pergolas in L’Île-Rousse?

Can a bioclimatic pergola withstand the Balagne wind?
It is designed for the terrace it stands on and fixed to a solid support. Two neighbouring houses do not catch the wind in the same way: we look at it on site. Pratic also offers optional weather sensors.
Do you need to declare a pergola to the town hall in L’Île-Rousse?
Generally, a prior declaration of works is enough; depending on the area or the zone, planning permission may be required. The town hall will confirm this, and we help you with the paperwork.
Bioclimatic pergola or fabric pergola for a holiday home?
The bioclimatic pergola keeps its louvred roof all year round and fine-tunes the shade. On a fabric pergola, the fabric folds away when you no longer need it. We compare the two with you, depending on exposure and how much time you spend there.
