We design and install made-to-measure bioclimatic pergolas, suited to conditions in Corsica. Their adjustable louvres control sunlight and ventilation, summer and winter alike. We work across the island: Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Île-Rousse and elsewhere.
The structure is aluminium, robust and precisely made. It comes from Biossun, a manufacturer founded in 2009, and Victor Paquelet, who runs LumiDesign, has been installing pergolas since 2015. We design each pergola for the place where it will stand, on a terrace, by a pool or in a garden, so that it fits in and lasts.

Biossun states that all its models are certified by the CSTB, the French Scientific and Technical Centre for Building, with which it has worked since 2013. According to the manufacturer, this certification guarantees that the pergola withstands everyday weather conditions.

On a terrace looking out over the Valinco, the afternoon sun comes in head-on and stays for a long time. You want to have lunch in the cool, then get the sky back for drinks and the sunset. A fixed canopy can only do one or the other.
The bioclimatic pergola answers with its louvres, which turn on their axis. Half open, they break up the sun while letting warm air rise and escape; closed, they form a ceiling that also keeps out a shower; fully open, they give you back the view of the sky.
Biossun, founded in 2009, manufactures in Isère; the brand states that all its models have received CSTB certification. Pratic makes its own in Fagagna, in Italian Friuli: louvres that adjust up to 140°, retract to clear the whole sky, or lift and stack, depending on the range.
When the louvres are closed, Pratic directs the water into an integrated drainage system, then down through the posts. To close off a side, the brand has its Raso vertical blinds and its Glass Series glazing, in sliding, fixed or hinged versions.
A structure anchored against the wind from the gulf.
When the wind enters the gulf, a raised terrace takes it full on. It is then anchored to a support able to hold it, slab, wall or façade: we examine it at the technical visit, along with the orientation of the terrace and how the components will be brought in on installation day.
Salt air attacks whatever lives outdoors. To resist salt, humidity and UV, Pratic treats its aluminium to the Qualicoat Seaside standard and coats it with Qualicoat Class 2 powders, according to the manufacturer. For a house closed out of season, we go over with you the maintenance to do on arrival and departure.

Can a bioclimatic pergola withstand the Valinco wind?
It is designed for its terrace and fixed to a solid support, which we check on site: a house by the beach and another up on the heights are exposed differently. Pratic also offers optional weather sensors.
Does a pergola in Propriano need planning permission?
In most cases, a prior declaration (déclaration préalable) must be filed; a building permit may be required depending on the area or the zone. The town hall will tell you, and we help you put the application together.
For a summer house, louvres or fabric?
The bioclimatic pergola keeps its louvres in every season and adjusts the shade to the degree. The fabric pergola retracts its fabric when you no longer need it. We compare them with you, according to the exposure and your stays.
